The collection consists of correspondence, cashbooks, diaries, financial receipts, land surveys, deeds, and photographs, most of which deal with Captain Lawrence's Civil War service.

	Abstract:	John Quincy Adams Campbell was a member of the 5th Regiment of Iowa Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War. The collection consists of three Civil War diaries. Volume 1 contains daily entries from July 9, 1861 to December 31, 1862. Volume 2 continues with January 1, 1863 to May 4, 1864, and also contains some later observations about his regiment written after 1905. Volume 3 contains entries from May 5, 1864 to November 24, 1864.

	Abstract:	William Foster (1840-1907) was a medical student from Scio (New Market), in Harrison County, Ohio who became a sergeant and hospital steward in the 126th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War. He was involved in numerous battles before he mustered out in July, 1865. He married Katherine Humphrey that September. The collection consists of photocopies of Civil War correspondence, mainly to Katherine Humphrey.

	Abstract:	David Auld (b. 1844) was a Columbus, Ohio, native who was a drummer during the American Civil War. He served with the Twentieth Ohio Infantry and the Forty-Third Ohio Infantry and participated in Sherman's march through Georgia. Auld was a photographer and artist during his service, selling battle photographs and drawings to newspapers and journals and fellow soldiers. The collection consists of letters from David to his family, particularly his father, during the American Civil War and several letters to David from his wife and cousin.

	Abstract:	Franklin A. Wise (b. 1841) was a native of Greentown, in Stark County, Ohio, who was drafted into the Union Army during the American Civil War. He fought with the 76th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry and participated in the siege of Vicksburg. He was discharged near Black River, Mississippi, on August 4, 1863. The collection consists of two diaries dated from December 3, 1862 to October 10, 1864 which detail Wise's experiences in the Union Army and his return home after his discharge.

Monks, was Ordnance Sergeant of the 105th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment, in 1863. 	Abstract:	William Tully Bascom was an Ohio journalist and editor. His daughter Laura L., a music teacher and soloist, married Dr. Hiram H. Little. Their son, Tully Bascom Little, was a Cleveland businessman who became chairman of the National Defense Committee of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. W.T. Bascom's son, Gustavus, fought in the Civil War and became a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army. The collection consists of correspondence, diaries, newspaper clippings, memorabilia, and genealogical and autobiographical material.

The collection consists of correspondence, contracts, and land agreements and deeds to tracts of land in Brooklyn and Rockport, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Includes letters (1861-1863) from John M. Bassett to his family, written while he was stationed in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia, giving his personal impressions of the Civil War. Other persons represented include Henry D. The collection consists of reminiscences of Metcalf's childhood on a Medina County, Ohio, farm, his student days in Oberlin, and primarily his service during the Civil War, and his experiences as a lawyer in Mississippi during Reconstruction.
